Fly Ash Role In Porcelain Tiles

Fly Ash Role In Porcelain Tiles

Description: Fly ash is the fine ash coming from the flue gas after coal combustion. It is the main solid waste discharged from coal-fired power plant. Fly ash is one of the larger displacement of industrial waste residue in our country. If fly ash is not treated, it will produce dust, and atmospheric pollution. But now, people find it value. Fly ash can be used as concrete admixture. It also has the important role on porcelain tiles production.

With the development of power industry, fly ash emissions increase year by year. A large amount of fly ash will cause air pollution, water pollution and a series of environmental problems. In the past a very long period of time, it makes many enterprises suffering. Today, the birth of fly ash grinding mill lays the foundation for the future of fly ash, and turns the waste to resources.

Fly ash is a reusable resource. It contains the raw materials of alumina, silicon oxide, lime and black and other chemical products. Its chemical composition is very similar with the traditional ceramic raw material composition. There are important applications in the production of porcelain tiles.

The fly ash with suitable proportion is added in the porcelain tiles. Its absorption rate remains basically unchanged, and the bending strength is better. But after adding fly ash, it will reduce the whiteness of products. So it is suitable for a darker color glazed porcelain tile. Compared with the original formula, the fly ash formula has little difference in the composition, expansion coefficient, and sintering rang. Potassium, sodium and iron content of fly ash are higher. This plays a certain solvent action in the porcelain tiles production. At the same time, it can reduce the sintering temperature of ceramic products, and promote the sintering densification of ceramic products. To a certain extent, it will improve the modulus of rupture of ceramic materials.

It should be noted that if the carbon content in the formulation is excessive, it will cause the glazed pinholes, sandwich, black or even drums package defects. Due to the presence of unburned carbon in fly ash and a small amount of the incomplete decomposition of inorganic salts, it must be considered when the organic matter content, glaze adaptability and firing range, to configure the optimal ratio.
